LEGAL AID CUTS

The Government has announced that there will be a significant restriction in the amount of Legal Aid available.

Under the new proposed system, if anyone has more than £1,000.00 with property value included, they would effectively be ruled out of receiving Legal Aid.

In addition, much of the family law areas are to be excluded, which will include divorce and some children cases.

If you have been a victim of medical negligence you will also be excluded from Legal Aid.

It should be noted that these are proposals at the moment and the bill is currently going through Parliament and may be subject to change.

However, Dicksons would say, as a Practice, that if you have a potential medical negligence claim or require a lawyer in a family cases, it would be our advice that you arrange to see us as soon as possible, if you are currently likely to be eligible for Legal Aid.
